Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl

Seattle suffered a humbling loss at home last week to St. Louis but the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl are worlds better than what their 2-4 start to the season suggested.

Pete Carroll’s team faces the possibility of finishing the regular season with two straight losses visiting NFC West champion Arizona on Sunday. The Cardinals are favored by 6.5 points at the SportsBetting.ag Sportsbook, but they may rest most of their starters especially if the game is out of hand in the second half.

Seattle suffered a humbling loss at home last week to St. Louis but the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl are worlds better than what their 2-4 start to the season suggested.Even with a loss to Arizona, Seattle would finish 9-7, which means Russell Wilson and Co. would finish a respectable 7-3 in their last 10 regular season games. The Seahawks most likely will be the No. 6 seed that will face the NFC North champion, Green Bay or Minnesota, in the first round of the playoffs next week.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl

Seattle has the third best odds (+400) to win the NFC title behind Arizona (+160) and Carolina (+175) at the sportsbook.

The biggest key to the Seahawks’ turnaround is that Wilson is operating from the pocket efficiently. In a four-game stretch recently, he completed 81 of 99 pass attempts for 1,094 yards with 15 touchdowns and no interceptions when he stays in the pocket. In his fourth season, at the age of 27, is at his best. he’s reopened the conversation on what his ceiling is as an NFL player. Given that Wilson is still making plays with his legs, defenses are having all kinds of problems coming up with ways to attack him.

The improvement for Seattle is directly related to the development of its offensive line, which was much maligned earlier in the season. Since Week 8, Wilson has been sacked on 3.4 percent of his dropbacks, the fourth-best mark among quarterbacks. In the first seven weeks, that number was 11.7 percent (32nd). Wilson has done a better job of setting the protections and getting the Seahawks in the right look before the snap. The Seahawks have cut down on the negative plays that were killing the rhythm on offense earlier in the season.

Plenty of talk has occurred this season about how the Seahawks’ defense doesn’t look the same as it has in previous seasons. But since Kam Chancellor returned in Week 3, the Seahawks are allowing 15.82 points per game. No defense in the NFL has allowed fewer points during that span. Richard Sherman has played at a high level. There will be question marks about whether they can handle high-powered passing attacks, but the defense is in good shape going down the stretch.

Bournemouth versus Newcastle

This weekend kicks off at 12.45 where Bournemouth versus Newcastle travel the length of the country to face Newcastle where they’ll be hoping to secure 3 points after suffering through 5 winless games two of which being 5-1 defeats. The Magpies have also seen a tough start to the season which doesn’t look to improve and will likely see the team fight the relegation battle all season. With both teams needing to secure the full 3 points it should make for an interesting game however, the likely outcome being a draw which is currently priced at 5/2 though edging as favourites to take the win are Bournemouth at 5/4.

Leicester are having a great season so far with a lot of credit being taken by their star striker Vardy – as a team they have only failed to score in 1 match from their last 29 in all competitions, with this run stretching back to March. In that time only Chelsea and Arsenal have come away from the King Power Stadium with a win making for another tough fixture for Watford. Saying this, they arguably produced their best performance of the season in overcoming the in-form West Ham 2-0 last weekend. Leicester are likely to take the win here and are currently priced at 17/20 with bet365 – add Vardy to score first in a wincast to make this a more attractive 4/1.

Bournemouth versus Newcastle

In the late kick-off, Stoke City will be looking to heap more misery on José This weekend kicks off at 12.45 where Bournemouth versus Newcastle travel the length of the country to face Newcastle where they’ll be hoping to secure 3 points after suffering through 5 winless games two of which being 5-1 defeats.Mourinho, with his Chelsea side lying in 15th place in the Premier League table. Stoke have lost just once in their last 6 league games, and have kept clean sheets in three of their last four. It will be tough for a Chelsea side low on confidence and with their manager on a stadium ban to breach the home defence, and a raucous crowd could help to condemn them to another setback here. Chelsea are current favourites to take the three points though a more likely outcome would be a home side win currently priced at 14/5.

On Sunday Remi Garde will take charge of Aston Villa for the first time, but his opening assignment could hardly be a tougher one. Manchester City travel to Villa Park with a record in their last 8 games of 7 wins, 0 defeats and 25 goals scored. They’ll relish a match against the league’s bottom club, and it would be a major shock to see anything other than an away win here. With Agüero and Silva still out there’s chance for other players to shine, and Kevin De Bruyne is the man who’s proving to be the most consistent. He has 3 goals and 4 assists from his 7 Premier League matches so far and is currently priced at 11/2 to score first – make this each-way for a pay out at 1/3 odds for unlimited places in 90 minutes play.

Bournemouth versus Newcastle

The big game of the weekend is the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham. The Emirates faithful will be hoping that the Gunners can bounce back from their 5-1 mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week, but domestically there’s nothing wrong with Arsenal’s form – they’ve won 5 games on the bounce in the league and have suffered only 1 defeat since the opening day. Spurs are in superb form too though; they haven’t tasted defeat in the league since their opening day trip to Old Trafford and have won 5 of their last 7. Historically this fixture has produced plenty of goals, and both teams will be confident of finding the net on Sunday, making BTTS a likely outcome at 8/13 with bet365. Arsenal are favourites to take the win at 8/11 though with many of their key players out through injury a Tottenham win (4/1) or Draw (3/1) could be an interesting alternative option.

Belmont Stakes Racing

With the Belmont Stakes Racing just days away, this may be a good time to examine how the Belmont Park surface played during the day when the third jewel of the Triple Crown was run last year.

Only the dirt races will be evaluated as we will attempt to get a crystal ball look at how the surface may play this year when American Pharoah attempts to become the 12th runner to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.

Belmont Stakes Racing

With the Belmont Stakes Racing just days away, this may be a good time to examine how the Belmont Park surface played during the day when the third jewel of the Triple Crown was run last year.First, the track itself first opened in May of 1905. It is known as the ‘Championship Track’ because nearly every major champion in history raced at Belmont including all 11 Triple Crown winners.

The main Belmont track is nicknamed ‘Big Sandy’ and is the longest dirt track in North American at a mile and a half. From the top of the stretch to the finish line runners have to negotiate 1,097 feet.

The track is always well sported but when an event like a possible Triple Crown winner is in prospect, the people will come.

When Smarty Jones was trying to win the Belmont and complete the Triple Crown in 2004 over 120,000 people witnessed his defeat at the hands of Birdstone.

Belmont Stakes Racing

In the first race on Belmont Stakes day last year, the racehorse Jimmy Connors was stretching out from 7 furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth and he made the lead rather easily. The eventual 5-2 winner Wabbajack sat 2 and a half-lengths off the lead early before winning going away.

The second race was run at the same 8 and a half furlongs and a deep closer prevailed. Kid Cruz was dead last early at 3-1 but he got into contention at the top of the land and drew off to win by over 3 lengths.

The Brooklyn Invitational was next and it was run at the exact same distance of the Belmont Stakes so there is a good gauge there.

The third choice in the race Ground Transport made the lead but Joel Rosario aboard Norumbega had his measure all the way. That eventual winner was 5th early, was a length off the lead with a furlong to go and got up by a neck at 10-1. He was timed in 2.27.13 compared to the winning Belmont Stakes time of 2:28.52.

Sprinters were in the spotlight next in the 7-furlong Woody Stephens and Bayern got the ideal 2-hole trip and he drew off to win by 7 and a half-lengths.

Sophomore fillies went a mile in the next race, the 6th, and the winner Sweet Reason was 11th of 13 early, rallied to get within a length of the lead at the top of the lane and cashed by a half-length.

Older fillies and mares competed next in the Ogden Phipps Stakes and champion Close Hatches was in the garden spot early sitting third and won by a head when 3 horses were on the line together.

The 8th race was on grass, the 9th was the Met Mile and again the winner Palace Malice got a perfect garden trip and got up by a length.

The Manhattan on grass set up the stage for the Belmont Stakes. In the Classic last year Commissioner went to the lead at 28-1 and he almost pulled it off. He had a length and a half lead at the top of the lane but once again, the horse that sat third early, Tonalist, won a stirring stretch battle to get up by a head at 9-1.

All in all, the Belmont surface last year played fair, but runners that had tactical speed, seemed to thrive.

Sparkling Mustajeeb

Sparkling Mustajeeb will be targeted at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot after stamping himself as a potential star of the sprinting division with victory in the Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.
The four-year-old was running over six furlongs for the first time since his juvenile debut, but he had no problems with dropping back down in trip when accounting for a smart field in the Group Two contest.

With Sole Power and Gordon Lord Byron both failing to fire, Mustajeeb came from just off the pace in the hands of Pat Smullen to show a decisive turn of foot inside the final furlong.

Trainer Dermot Weld is now preparing to send Mustajeeb to Royal Ascot, where he won over seven furlongs in the Jersey Stakes 12 months ago.

Sparkling Mustajeeb

Weld said: “The obvious race for him is the Diamond Jubilee over six at Royal Ascot and he’s also in the July Cup.”

Sparkling Mustajeeb has Diamond target Mustajeeb will be targeted at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot after stamping himself as a potential star ofMustajeeb is 11.00 to win the Diamind Jubilee Stakes.

Mustajeeb’s sire Nayef was a four-time Group One winner over middle distances and his son finished third behind Kingman in the Irish 2000 Guineas last season. Mustajeeb also finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on his final start last season.

His win in the Greenlands Stakes formed part of a big-race double for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, who also struck on the other side of the Irish Sea with Mutarakez in the Silver Bowl Stakes at Haydock.

Mutarakez took time to hit his stride, but looked a cosy winner in the end and he will also have Royal Ascot on his agenda for his next race.

Brian Meehan will wait to see what the handicapper does before deciding whether to keep Mutarakez at a mile for the Britannia or step him up to 1m2f for the Tercentenary Stakes.

Twenty Different Horses

Twenty different horses will run for a place in history at the 141 Kentucky Derby this weekend at Churchill Downs. There really isn’t anything else like The Run for the Roses in the world of horse racing and the fact that it is packed in to a super four-day stretch that includes the NFL Draft, NBA and NHL playoffs as well as Mayweather-Pacquiao has turned this in to the most loaded sports betting weekend of the year. Here is a quick look at the best bets on the board for this weekend’s Kentucky Derby.

The Favorite Twenty Different Horses

American Pharoah +275

Even the smallest margin can make a huge difference when it comes to Twenty different horses will run for a place in history at the 141 Kentucky Derby this weekend at Churchill Downs. There really isn’t anything else like The Run for the Roses in the world of betting on a race like the Kentucky Derby and when it comes to American Pharoah it’s his jockey Victor Espinoza that is expected to give him the greater edge in this race. Espinoza helped California Chrome win this race 12 months ago and he already has two Kentucky Derby victories on his resume so it’s no surprise that his horse is the favorite considering it’s already the most likely horse to win in this group regardless. American Pharoah’s excellent endurance will be among the biggest keys to its success and the ability to make snap decisions in the midst of the race is crucial and that is where Espinoza’s experience will really pay off the most. Anything can happen in The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports but American Pharoah has all of the attributes of a horse that should be favored to win.

The Contenders

Dortmund +325

Like American Pharoah, Dortmund is another Bob Baffert trained horse that has ahead a lot of success so far winning all six of his races to this point. Dortmund was also fortunate to get probably the best post-position of any horse listed among the favorites so if there is one horse that really has a strong chance at edging out American Pharoah it should be Dortmund.

Carpe Diem +900

Carpe Diem is the first of two horses on this list trained by Todd Pletcher and was listed even closer behind Dortmund before his post-position was revealed and it was learned he will start from the No. 2 spot. Starting on the inside track is never favorable and while this horse has the potential to overcome that starting spot it certainly won’t help Carpe Diem’s chances of competing with American Pharoah and Dortmund for the victory.

Materiality +1400

Anybody that is cautious about taking Carpe Diem from the No. 2 starting position will likely be just as wary when it comes to taking Materiality after it was announced that this horse will start from the No. 3 spot. The second of Pletcher’s top two horses that also happened to have a terrible post draw, Materiality will also be overlooked in many aspects but could still be among the top contenders to place.

Sleeper Pick

Far Right +3300

The best potential sleeper pick on the board is a horse that finished second to American Pharoah in the Arkansas Derby in Far Right. Another Pletcher entry, Far Right was a back-to-back winner in the Southwest Stakes and the Smarty Jones. The fact that this horse finished second to American Pharoah at the Arkansas Derby alone is reason to feel confident about its chances and at long odds it makes a lot of sense to take Far Right as a sleeper pick to at least place in this weekend’s Kentucky Derby.

Best Bet: Far Right +3300

College Basketball March Madness

College Basketball March Madness is here and by all accounts it is looking like it is going to be pretty chalky. With that in mind I am going to take a look at the top seeds: Kentucky, Duke, Villanova and Wisconsin and see who has the easiest path to the Final Four based on overall competition and potential matchups. There is no doubt Kentucky is the favourite but has their top overall seeding cleared the path for them even more?

College Basketball March Madness

Kentucky Wildcats:

College Basketball March Madness is here and by all accounts it is looking like it is going to be pretty chalky. With that in mind I am going to take a look at the top seeds: Kentucky, Duke, Villanova and Wisconsin and see who has the easiest path to the Final Four based on overall competition and potential matchups. As the top seed the Wildcats are supposed to have the clearest path and I think the committee has achieved that. The second seed in their bracket is Kansas, a team they creamed early in the season and the third seed is Notre Dame, a quality team but one that lacks the size and depth to give Kentucky a game. Wichita State is there which will bring up some fun historical references but this year’s team is not as good as last year’s. The teams that have the most intrigue for me are Texas and Purdue because both have enough size to pose a threat. The Longhorns played them tough but are inconsistent overall and Purdue might not even get by Cincinnati to face them in the round of 32. This is a nice slate for UK.

Duke Blue Devils:

I believe Duke was considered the third overall seed which is why they are in the South and not the East. They have been impressive this season but I think they might have the toughest slog to get to the Final Four. In the round of 32 they are likely to face a San Diego State team that is long and has one of the top defenses in America. It is just not really Duke’s style to gut a game out but they might have to. Also, on the bottom of the bracket you have Gonzaga and Iowa State, two teams that I probably would have put in the Final Four were they not in the same corner of the grid. Throw in wild cards like Utah and Stephen F. Austin and I think half of this region is capable of bringing down the Blue Devils.

Villanova:

Villanova is the top seed in the East. Since I am not a big Virginia fan I think they could have an easy time of it…if they can get past their second round game against the winner of LSU vs. NC State. Both of those teams are capable with hanging with any team in the tournament and have proved it in their respective leagues this season. Other than those programs I am not too concerned with the likes of Louisville and Northern Iowa. A sleeper could be Michigan State who has chosen the right time of year to be playing their best ball. The East Region is pretty light.

Wisconsin:

I know this kind of thing happens a lot but it is weird to see Wisconsin as the top seed in the West. They definitely did not do the Badgers any favours by putting the most obvious team – Arizona – out there too and there are definitely others that could put a scare in the Badgers if they get a chance. North Carolina finished the season very strong and has the size and depth to push Wisconsin, so does Arkansas out of the SEC. Finally, if BYU is able to make a run from their spot in the First Four I think they would be an interesting opponent for all of the aforementioned teams. They beat Gonzaga on the road to close the regular season and they play at a fast pace.

Order Easiest to Most Difficult:

1. Villanova

2. Kentucky

3. Wisconsin

4. Duke
